Rotaract Mississauga Presents the 7th Annual Singfest Event
On Saturday, July 14, 2017 Rotaract Club of Mississauga held its 7th Annual Singfest Event. Singfest is a singing competition open to singers ages 13 to 30, divided into two age categories of ages 13-18 and 19-30. The auditions for singers ran from April to June and the contestants were narrowed down to the Top 10 in each age group. The finalists got the chance to perform on the main stage at Rotary Mississauga’s Ribfest at Port Credit Memorial Park.
The contestants were judged by a panel of three incredibly talented and accomplished individuals in the music industry, and evaluated the contestant’s on their pitch, tone quality, technique, presentation and originality.
All the contestants were extremely talented and brought something different to the table. After all the contestants performed, the TOP 5 in each age category performed again to determine who would be the Grand Prize Winner. The first round results were determined by judge’s scores and fan voting but the final round was judged solely by the judges. While all the performances were amazing, the runners up were Melanie for ages 13-18 and Tamara for ages 19-26. The grand prize winner for ages 13-18 was awarded to Alexa Frankian and for ages 19-30 was awarded to Allii Mariie.
Our main sponsor for the event was Metalworks Studio, awarding the grand prize winners two music courses. The grand prize also consisted of an assortment of other prizes from our sponsors: Nehal Mehra and Ashton Harilall. Thank you to all of our sponsors, we couldn’t have made this day possible without you!
